The Reason Christ Was Born a Man
I. Jesus was condemned (v. 18)
Romans 14:10-12 – 10 Why do you pass judgment on your brother? Or you, why do you
despise your brother? For we will all stand before the judgment seat of God; 11 for it is written,
“As I live, says the Lord, every knee shall bow to me,
and every tongue shall confess to God.”
12 So then each of us will give an account of himself to God.
Romans 8:1 – There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
II. Jesus was mocked, flogged and crucified (v. 19)
Genesis 6:5 – The Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every

III. Jesus rose on the third day (v. 19)
Romans 8:11 – If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who
raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit
who dwells in you.
The Virgin Birth of Jesus
I. You shall call His name Jesus (v. 26-33)
Mark 10:15 – “Truly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child
shall not enter it.”
II. How will this be? (v. 34)
Romans 5:12 – Therefore, just as sin came into the world through one man, and death through

Romans 5:17 – For if, because of one man’s trespass, death reigned through that one man,
much more will those who receive the abundance of grace and the free gift of righteousness
reign in life through the one man Jesus Christ.
Isaiah 7:14 – Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, the virgin shall
conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.
III. I accept whatever God asks of me (v. 35-38)
2 Corinthians 4:3-4 – And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing.
4 In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them
from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.
The True Light Came Into the World
I. His own people did not receive Him (v. 9-11)
John 3:19 – And this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the
darkness rather than the light because their works were evil.
II. Who does God call His children? (v. 12-13)
Acts 16:30-31 – Then he brought them out and said, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?”
31 And they said, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household.”
III. He has dwelt among us (v. 14)
John 1:3 – All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that
