John Stange

Ezra 9:10-15

I. What have we done with God’s commandments? (v. 10-11)

Romans 5:20-21 – God’s law was given so that all people could see how sinful they were. II. What do we welcome into our family life? (v. 12-14)

1 Corinthians 7:39 – A wife is bound to her husband as long as he lives. If her husband dies, she is free to marry anyone she wishes, but only if he loves the Lord.

III. How can we possibly stand before our Creator? (v. 15)

Ephesians 5:25-27 – For husbands, this means love your wives, just as Christ loved the church. He gave up his life for her 26 to make her holy and clean, washed by the cleansing of God’s word. 27 He did this to present her to himself as a glorious church without a spot or wrinkle or any other blemish. Instead, she will be holy and without fault.

Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. 15 And the prayer of faith will save the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. 16 Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed.
