Ezra 9:6-9

I. Admitting our guilt instead of holding on to it (v. 6-7)

1 Corinthians 12:26 – If one member suffers, all suffer together; if one member is honored, all rejoice together.

James 5:16 – Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.

II. Welcoming God’s action of “brightening our eyes” (v. 8)

John 10:9-10 – 9 I am the door. If anyone enters by me, he will be saved and will go in and out and find pasture. 10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.

III. Remembering that God does not forsake His children (v. 9)

Hebrews 13:5b – “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”

1 Peter 2:1-12

I. Growing up in our salvation (v. 1-8)

Romans 12:1 – “I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.”

Hebrews 13:15-16 – “Through him then let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of lips that acknowledge his name. Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.”

II. A life that proclaims God’s excellency (v. 9-10)

Hebrews 4:14 – “Since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession.”

III. Abstaining from the passions of flesh (v. 11-12)
