John Stange

Ezra 9:10-15

I. What have we done with God’s commandments? (v. 10-11)

Romans 5:20-21 – God’s law was given so that all people could see how sinful they were. But as people sinned more and more, God’s wonderful grace became more abundant. 21 So just as sin ruled over all people and brought them to death, now God’s wonderful grace rules instead, giving us right standing with God and resulting in eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
II. What do we welcome into our family life? (v. 12-14)

1 Corinthians 7:39 – A wife is bound to her husband as long as he lives. If her husband dies, she is free to marry anyone she wishes, but only if he loves the Lord.

III. How can we possibly stand before our Creator? (v. 15)

Ephesians 5:25-27 – For husbands, this means love your wives, just as Christ loved the church. He gave up his life for her 26 to make her holy and clean, washed by the cleansing of God’s word. 27 He did this to present her to himself as a glorious church without a spot or wrinkle or any other blemish. Instead, she will be holy and without fault.

12/14/14 – The Virgin Birth of Jesus

The Virgin Birth of Jesus

John Stange

Luke 1:26-38

I. You shall call His name Jesus (v. 26-33)

Mark 10:15 – “Truly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child
shall not enter it.”

II. How will this be? (v. 34)

Romans 5:12 – Therefore, just as sin came into the world through one man, and death through
sin, and so death spread to all men because all sinned

Romans 5:17 – For if, because of one man’s trespass, death reigned through that one man,
much more will those who receive the abundance of grace and the free gift of righteousness
reign in life through the one man Jesus Christ.

Isaiah 7:14 – Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, the virgin shall
conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

III. I accept whatever God asks of me (v. 35-38)

2 Corinthians 4:3-4 – And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing.
4 In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them
from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.
